Who really raised us?
Everyone is all too familiar with how Generation X was brought up. The stories, at this point, are legendary. Little to no supervision, banished from the house until the
Street lights came on, etc. But, there’s also a layer to this that is rarely mentioned: Television.
Part of what shaped our character was the shows we all loved. Being latch-key kids and generally unsupervised, we watched, arguably, an inordinate amount of TV.
Considering we now live in a world where credibility is the only real currency, and a great deal of the characters on television today are, ummm….. morally challenged, I’m very grateful for the characters we had, as Gen Xers, to look up to.

Jason & Maggie Seaver
Richie Cunningham
Chrissy Snow
Joe Hardy
On and on….
As kids were we like sponges absorbing Pop Culture, while figuring everything out on our own.
Perhaps that’s why so many of us still value hard work, loyalty, personal responsibility and perseverance.
